I travelled Rwanda extensively post-Covid, initially for a photography project on its wild animals and birdlife. The project expanded. I stayed. I began putting together private Rwanda safari and photography tours for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers who wanted to see the country properly — not just for the gorillas and a quick flight home.

Plan Your Tour with JasonMy background is in foreign investment law — as a commercial lawyer, I spent two decades working with facts, building arguments, and finding the story others missed. I bring the same approach to my tours. Rwanda has layers. The obvious layer is the wildlife and the landscape. The layer underneath is the history, the politics, and the extraordinary social project that is modern day Rwanda. I try to show you both.
If you join me on a photography tour, I carry a Nikon Z6 with a 180-600mm zoom for wildlife and birding, and a 24-120mm for landscape. I shoot in raw and process in Lightroom. If you want to talk about technique — composition, exposure, post-processing — I am happy to. If you just want to point and shoot, that is fine too. The guide adapts to the guest, not the other way around.
I have guided extensively year round. I have driven many roads off the beaten track to find wild animals and birdlife outside the Parks. I know this country well. I am still finding new spots.
What I offer
Private tours only
I do not do multiple group tours or shared departures. Every trip I lead is for your group only.
Local knowledge
I know the parks, the people, and the roads that don't appear on the map.
Birding
Birding is extraordinary in Rwanda and I know where to find them.
Photography tours
Composition, technique and editing guidance available throughout — or not if you prefer.
Flexibility
The itinerary is a starting point. We let the conditions guide us, and if something is not working, we change it.
